What I use to do my work.

I often get asked what tech and tools I use. My setup typically doesn’t change very often because there’s usually a lot of research done before pulling the trigger (great equipment tends to be expensive!)

Shoot me a tweet @fareedbehardien if there is something missing and I’ll add it.

Workstation.

Here is my 2024 setup: (Drastically reduced due to my move to Melbourne!)

  • 2021 M1 Pro Macbook Pro 14″
  • 2022 iPad Pro M2 11″ with Apple Pencil
  • Ikea Lisabo Coffee Table
  • Anker Soundcore Noise Cancelling Headphones
  • 2022 AirPods Pro (2nd Gen)
  • White cable box – to hide the cables

2022 setup:

  • 2021 M1 Pro Macbook Pro 14″ – best laptop I’ve ever had
  • 2022 iPad Pro M2 11″ with Apple Pencil – included in workflow in Dec’22. Still undecided as to whether this truly has added enough value to my workflow
  • Logitech MX Master 3S Mouse – just an incredible mouse
  • Keychron K12 Keyboard with Red switches – decent keyboard, but not the greatest
  • Dell 27″ IPS 4K Monitor – I love this monitor. Couldn’t afford the Apple Studio Display and this was a winner in the productivity class
  • LED light strip – stuck behind the monitor to change the colour based on mood (work mode vs. relax mode)
  • Shure MV 7B USB Mic – overkill unless you do podcasting
  • OnStage Laptop Stand – left over from my DJ phase 😎
  • Vinyl Deskmat
  • Herman Miller Aeron Classic Chair (Size B) – greatest investment ever!
  • Anker Soundcore Noise Cancelling Headphones – decent as your first pair of NC headphones. Not comfortable for longer wears
  • 2022 AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) – My wife had the 1st Gen and I loved them. Had FOMO so got my own pair for when I’m on the go

Productivity.

  • Notion – Second Brain and workspace
  • Apple Notes – I made the switch from OneNote and this just works so well
  • Apple Reminders – the link with Siri is just awesome
  • Apple Books – I prefer epubs and ebooks because highlighting and note taking is better than on hard copy
  • Readwise – to sync all book highlights from Apple Books to Notion. The Reader app is great too
  • MS Office – the business standard in productivity tools. PowerPoint for life!
  • VS Code – IDE for coding projects
  • Chrome web browser
  • Spotify
  • Zoom – for coaching calls and booking
  • Freeform – for collaboration in coaching calls
  • Procreate – for all sketches included in content creation
